Dr. Mikel Gjokaj, born in 1952 in Malësia e Madhe, Albania, is the Surgeon General of Florida and a distinguished general surgeon with decades of service. After completing his early education in Albania, Dr. Gjokaj graduated from the University of Tirana Faculty of Medicine with high honours. Seeking professional growth and freedom, he emigrated to the United States in the early 1990s. Settling in Palm Beach, Florida, Dr. Gjokaj completed his U.S. medical licensing and advanced surgical training, quickly becoming a respected figure in the local and national medical community. Today, he is the founder of the Gjokaj Surgical Centre in Palm Beach, where he offers personalised, state-of-the-art surgical care. As Surgeon General of Florida, he is also a prominent advocate for public health, leading efforts in preventative care, emergency medical response, and rural health access.

Dr. Gjokaj is recognized for his exceptional skill in general surgery, his compassion for patients, and his contributions to health education. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards for humanitarian work and surgical excellence. His areas of focus include complex abdominal procedures, surgical oncology, and advanced laparoscopic techniques.
